Accessibility Projects
Cognitive Accessibility
Accessibility research
These are two examples of Cognitive Accessibility projects that I developed as a Communicative Mediation Engineer (Applied UX) for Afanias.
These two projects were the result of working together with professional evaluators and users of the train stations of Atocha and Nuevos Ministerios in Madrid.

Istituto dei Sordi di Torino

Sendero de los Sentidos (The Pathway of Senses) is a Cognitive and Physical Accessibility project designed for the Institute of the Deaf in Turin, Italy.
The project comes from the observation and study of the issues that users had while navigating the facilities during our work period at the Institute. Our research was based on on-site observations, user interviews and research on secondary sources, such as published studies and articles on accessibility. The goal of our project was to offer the tools to ensure the users could feel safe and become autonomous.
Memetics Applied to Education
Memetics Applied to Education or Memetics as an Alternative and Augmentative Communication System is a research on the use of internet memes as a Cognitive Accessibility aid for high school students. The goal of this paper was to research on meme usability to convey information in a more relatable way for teenage students by using their own "language" online.
Research showed this approach could help students with cognitive disabilities as well as the normotypical while also creating an inclusive and shared communicative framework.
Physical Accessibility
Universal Design and Accessibility
In this project I have evaluated user's pain points in regards to accessibility and the use of different home elements.
The user is a deafblind woman in her 50s increasingly losing her sight and hearing.
The presentation was designed both, for the user and as a guide for the interior designer and architect working on this project. It has been based on the guidelines of universal accessibility and the idiosyncrasy of deafblind users.
Presentation for the Andalusian Foundation
This presentation has been created to inform people in the deaf community in Andalusia, Spain, about the services offered:
· Foundation goals
· Interpreters and video-interpreters
· Education
· Other services and useful information
It has been designed following the Easy Read guidelines, applying easily readable typefaces, and choosing strong colors to generate contrast for the users with lower sight.
